Worm farms, composting, black soldier flies, compost teas, microbes… we hear about them all the time, but knowing how to actually use them properly in a home garden can feel a little overwhelming.
That is exactly why we are bringing Brian Donaldson, better known as Brian “The Worm Man”, to Trevallan.
Brian is a commercial worm farmer, educator and waste reduction specialist who teaches people how to turn everyday organic waste into something genuinely useful for the garden.
This workshop is designed to take the confusion out of worm farming, composting and soil health, and give you practical tools you can use at home.
You will learn about:
Worm farming at home
Hot and cold composting
Black soldier fly composting
Compost teas and castings extracts
Microbes and the soil microbiome
Common bugs found in worm farms and compost systems
How to use these systems safely and effectively in the garden
Brian will also bring along demonstration equipment and props, including tea brewers and examples of different systems, plus participants will receive virtual resources to refer back to at home.
Investment: $80 per person
Location: Trevallan Lifestyle Centre, Brassall
Date: Saturday 25th July 2026
Time: 9am - 12:30pm
Bookings are essential as spaces are limited.
Perfect for home gardeners, veggie growers, chicken keepers, compost-curious households and anyone who wants to reduce waste while improving their soil.
